The New Albany-Floyd County Public Library is proud to announce a teen summer writing contest, in association with local teen magazine Courage for Tomorrow!
Write a short story, personal essay, or poem (minimum 200 words for stories or essays, no minimum for poetry) inspired by the topic “Beneath the Surface” or by the Beneath the Surface poster image (above), and email it as an attached file to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line Beneath the Surface Writing Contest. In the message, include your name, phone number, and the grade you’re going into (contest is open to local students going into grades 6-12 or homeschool equivalent).
The contest deadline is July 31st, 2013, and winners will be announced by September 1, 2013.
Over the summer there will be two writers workshops at the New Albany-Floyd Central Public Library, co-hosted by Courage for Tomorrow, where writers can share their ideas and get feedback on their work before the contest deadline.
Your work could be published in Courage for Tomorrow, and you could win prizes like books autographed by Sarah Dessen, Lauren Myracle, Tamora Pierce, John Scalzi, and other great authors! Here’s a link to all the autographed books available as prizes.
